Free FAFSA Help at YHS

The FAFSA will open on Thursday, October 1. Jasmine from EducationQuest will be scheduling FREE appointments at YHS to assist in completing the FAFSA with you. She will begin FAFSA work on Oct. 1. Reach out to Mrs. Stuhr in the Counseling office to get scheduled. We have openings on Dec. 10 and beyond. Call for your FREE appt.

SCC Tuition Due - due Sept. 20

Students taking dual credit classes through Southeast Community College (SCC) should note that tuition was due by September 20. This can be paid online through the student HUB account or a check can be mailed to the Milford campus. See Mrs. Stuhr if you have questions. Students must have their balances paid in full in order to register for second semester dual credit classes.

Dual Credit Materials Fees

Students who take dual credit classes at YHS are assessed materials fees. Students and parents were emailed on Sept. 16 or 17 with the details. Please make payment to YHS and deliver to Mrs. Stuhr by October 7. This shows on the Fees of Infinite Campus.

CURRENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Elks Most Valu­able Student 2027 - Nov. 12, 2026

Elks National Foundation 2027 Most Valuable Student Scholarship “ Open to any high school senior who is a US citizen pursuing a four-year degree at a college or university. Scholarship deadline is November 12, 2026. Application may be found at enf.elks.org/MVS Applications are based on scholarship, leadership and financial need. Questions may be directed to Mr. Redfern at 402-362-4491.

National Honor Society - Due Nov. 20, 2026

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY SENIORS: There is a National Honor Society scholarship available to YOU! Deadline is Nov. 20, 2026. Check it out at https://www.nhs.us/students/the-nhs-scholarship/

Hagan - Due Dec. 1, 2026

HAGAN Scholarship – must enroll at an eligible four-year college or university the first semester following high school graduation, 3.5 high school GPA. Must also work a minimum of 240 hours between January 1, 2027, and September 1, 2027. This award is renewable. Applicant’s adjusted gross household income for 2025 must not exceed $125,000. Finalists must submit additional information. Details in the counseling office. Applications can be found haganscholarships.org/application

Perennial Public Power - Dec. 31, 2026

Perennial Public Power District Scholarship – If you are planning to enroll in a utility line program, a $1,000 scholarship could be waiting for you. See counseling office for application and more details. Deadline is December 31, 2026.

Acacia Fraternity - UNL male - Due Jan 31, 2027

Acacia Fraternity is offering a scholarship to a male who plans to attend UNL in the coming academic year. (Fraternity membership is not required.) Deadline for submission is January 31, 2027. See Mrs. Stuhr for an application. Essay required.

Blue Valley - Due March 1, 2027

Blue Valley Community Action (BVCA) Partnership is now accepting applications for the 2026-2027 BVCA Partnership Scholarship with applications found on-line at www.bvca.net OR you may obtain an application in the counseling office. Value $1,000. Three recommendation letters. Financial need.

FREE COLLEGE PLANNING HELP available!  Seniors, we are so fortunate to have an Educationquest expert from Lincoln visiting our school twice a month for 40-minute blocks of time.  This is FREE help!  Contact Mrs. Stuhr if you and/or your parents would like to set up a time to visit with her.  She is taking appointments so contact Mrs. Stuhr.  (This includes help with the FAFSA which  opened Oct. 1.)   The FAFSA is required for all seniors.  Contact Mrs. Stuhr to get your appointment set up soon!

PERU STATE COLLEGE – DUAL CREDIT STUDENTS

Go to peru.edu. Hover over Academics, Student Records, Transcripts.  You will need to have the DUO Mobile app on your phone for verification of identity.  It's best to do this transcript request during "business hours" on weekdays so you can contact Peru State for questions.  Waiting at least one week after graduaton so you can order an "as is" transcript is recommended.

SCC DUAL CREDIT STUDENTS

You may request your transcript by logging into southeast.edu, select Academics, select Transcript Request and choose the best option for you.
